Day 147: Easter Candy

So I have spent the past two months blogging about healthy food, raw foods, jogging, but today, I am blogging about Easter Candy. I love candy and therefore refuse to deprive myself of it at this time of year. I am using portion control and watching my caloric intake, but I am posting pictures of my favorite Easter Candy. I jogged 1/2 of a 5K this morning with dad and it felt good!! I am hoping to be under 200 lbs by April 7th. That is just a short term goal I have added! We shall see . . .
Breakfast this morning: Raw Fruit Smoothie with Wheat Grass (and jelly beans)
Lunch: 1/2 Subway sandwich
Dinner: Stirfry rice and veggies
God Bless!

Day 152: Stronger
To all my friends, who like myself, underestimate the strength of your body, reconsider. Regardless of your weight, height, age, ability, illnesses, etc, one fact holds true: YOU ARE SO MUCH STRONGER THAN YOU THINK!As I jogged this morning, burning 329 calories, I thought to myself, I would have bet my right arm that I would have never been able to do this, especially at over 200 pounds. I am doing it, my body is so much stronger than I ever imagined it could be. It is as if I am peeling off layers of an onion and with each layer I find new strength and abilities I never dreamed this fat girl possessed. I thank God and give Him the credit for this, for He is my creator.
This new me, started 230 pounds ago at 30 second jogs that were nearly impossible. Sometimes, even today, my legs cramp, my lungs don't want to expand and I am tired to the point that as I run, I scream (audibly) "I CAN DO ALL THINGS THRU CHRIST" . . . I am not sure what the neighbors think?!? I pray before each exercise. I pray for God's touch on my body so that it may be used in service for Him. There are times when the only thing that keeps me going is my mantra, " I can run because of Him". My body is transforming ever so slowly. I am becoming spiritually awakened by this new adventure.
I want to encourage those of you who feel frustrated today . . . don't give up! Always, remember that inside of you is a very strong person waiting to be revealed in Him. I am living proof of this. Fat Girl is a runner :-)
God Bless!

Day 153
Only 153 more days to reach my goal weight. One of the reasons my blogging has been on hold was because I was locked out of my own blog. . . go figure. I will give a bulleted list of updates since the last blog.
- Current weight: 206 lbs
- joined Absolute Fitness for 1 month with my dad
- started Zumba and Step classes at Absolute Fitness
- started boxing at the gym (pink boxing gloves)
- Dad and I registered for our first 5K "Race for the Cure" on May 5th
- finishing up week 3 of c25k tomorrow then starting week 4 on Tuesday
- getting over my UR infection
- my cat had to have blood work to see why she isn't feeling well
I have been trying to stick to my raw regimen which is sometimes difficult. . . I am still juicing every week. Had my first doughnut yesterday and it was an amazing 239 calories. . . .
Hope to get back to my blog now that I am able to get signed back in . . .
God Bless!!

Day 158
Ended up going to the doctor this morning and I have an upper respiratory infection. I'm now on antibiotics three times a day. My weight is down to 204 which is around a 26 pound weight loss. In the morning, i plan to hit the gym with my dad, today I did not exercise as I felt my body needed the extra rest. I ate about 200 extra calories as well. Started my day with cherries and apples, then for lunch had left over rice and veggies, dinner was a subway sandwich with ham an turkey on honey oat and loads of veggies. I'm posting a pic of me and one of my deaf students. Can you see any difference with my size? I'm really trying to stay on track.
God bless!

Day 162: Eyes on the Goal
Today's goal: Stop SignLet me explain . . . today, I went for a walk outdoors. When I reached the end of my street which is about 1/2 of a mile, I decided to challenge myself and jog the entire distance back. Nobody was with me today, so I was not going to be embarrassed if I didn't make it. I focused on the stop sign at the end of our street. It was my goal. I made it not only once, but four times!! I was so happy!! I went slow, runners would probably say that I "shuffle", but I kept on jogging!!
Here are my stats:
| Distance: | 3.47 mi |
| Time: | 1:00:04 |
| Best Pace: | 10:50 min/mi |
| Elevation Gain: | 50 ft |

Today, Dad and I started week 3 of the c25k training. . . i really did NOT think I could do the 3 minute jog/run portion. When the clock said 2:59 and I was still jogging, I cried . . . tears in my eyes because I did it!! We made it through the full training 90 second jog 90 second walk 3 minute jog 3 minute walk (two reps of this). It wasn't as difficult as I thought, but I went very slow. Here's to burning an additional 3,500 calories this week :-) God Bless! Here are my stats:
| Distance: | 2.04 mi |
| Time: | 35:17 |
| Best Pace: | 10:40 min/mi |
| Elevation Gain: | 25 ft |
| Calories: | 240 C |
Monday, March 12, 2012
Day 164
This is my motto for today . . . yesterday was a bad day and I woke up this morning feeling like giving up. My family member ended up having to go back to the hospital :-( I had to call 911. I was so hungry all day and all night yesterday, that at about 2:00 am, I got up and ate 3 cups of pinto beans . . . it was all I had already cooked. I didn't get much sleep and Mondays are my most difficult days at work . . . I just really need motivation and prayers. I was ready to throw in the towel this morning, but I am going to get on my elliptical instead and I will go back to eating less this morning! Prayers appreciated . . . God Bless!!
Saturday, March 10, 2012
Day 166
I honestly didn't think I could work out today. . . went to bed last night with pains in my left side / chest and felt tight as I tried to breathe . . . woke up feeling tired with some residual pains, but went ahead and worked out anyway. . . . I am feeling so much better!! Pain is gone!! Thank you, Jesus!!I am so blessed . . . God has worked out every detail for my family member and there is no doubt that He was in control!!
I did the c25K with dad today . . . it was our last day of week2 . . . Tuesday starts week 3, and I really don't think in a million years that I can do that!! It will be too hard and I am not ready . . . we will see????
Here are my stats for today's workout:
| Distance: | 2.72 mi |
| Time: | 45:02 |
| Avg Pace: | 16:32 min/mi |
| Elevation Gain: | 37 ft |
| Calories: | 312 C |
| Avg HR: | 127 bpm |
| Max HR: | 167 bpm |

Day 167
I need to burn more fat! I have been at a stand still since Feb 29th . . . I am not happy that I can't seem to lose more weight, but I remind myself it's about being healthy NOT numbers!!This evening, we went to dinner with some friends so I ate light thru the day. I love OCharleys, so that's where we went . . .
Today's Menu:
B- Lara Bar
L- Chobani Yogurt and banana and tangerine (raw)
D- salad, salmon, plain baked potato, broccoli casserole
I walked with my dad for 30 minutes today and burned 178 calories . . .
Please pray for my friend's daughter, she was just diagnosed with colon cancer :-(
God CAN heal her, I know He is ABLE!!
God Bless
Thursday, March 8, 2012
Day 168

Wednesday, March 7, 2012
Day 169

Today was BUSY!! Woke up, had physical therapy, then went to my massage . . . had to take my cat to the vet because she had an abscessed tooth and needed surgery. (nearly 500.00 later got to take her home) . . . but she's my baby!! Taught class, checked on my family member who has been ill and is now HOME! So, this has been a crazy wild day!!
Today's menu:
B- Lara bar and raw banana
L-Veggie sub from subway
D- raw apple, chicken snack wrap and a small fry (splurge)
I was asked for a movie review . . .
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo was good, but had a lot of sexual content, so be warned . . . the same with The Girl Who Played with Fire . . . both were very interesting movies with several plots that really kept you on your toes, watching intently, but being European movies, there was more nudity than American films, so it would not be appropriate for children, etc. I am just being honest . . . Breaking Dawn was good . . . I don't like that I have to wait for part II!! I was just getting into it when it stopped. I thought Bella seemed a bit depressed to be a newly wed, and the only time she actually smiled at her own wedding was when Jacob arrived . . . a bit odd ???? I am a huge EDWARD fan . . . I think he's a doll ;-)
Well, gotta get to bed, dad and I plan to jog / run/ walk tomorrow BRIGHT and EARLY . . .
God Bless!!
Tuesday, March 6, 2012

| Time: | 40:01 |
| Avg Pace: | 15:56 min/mi |
| Elevation Gain: | 38 ft |
| Calories: | 272 C |
So today, Dad and I did a C25K train and the above is our stats . . . remember that we only run / jog in intervals and we are walking half of the time . . .
Learning about the new Garmin has been fun . . . my best pace was 10:54 min today . . .
My average heart rate was 130 and max was 169 bpm . . .
Pretty cool, huh??
Today, I am having cold raw oats for breakfast and veggies & chicken for lunch . . . not sure about dinner . . .
God Bless!!
Monday, March 5, 2012
Day 171 = Garmin Forerunner
My newest investment . . . a Garmin 310xt forerunner with a heart rate monitor. It was something I had been wanting to help me more accurately keep track of my heart rate/ calories burned/ and running pace - distance. This one watch does it all . . . hope to try it out tomorrow! Dad and I plan to run our c25k again in the morning.Sunday, March 4, 2012
Day 172

Today I spent 45 minutes on my Elliptical with incline intervals . . . I had my cold oats and raw juices: grape and apple for breakfast, for lunch, I am having chicken breast and veggies, then for dinner, not really sure. With all the stress, my husband and I have watched a couple of movies lately to "escape" as he says . . . my friend, Kelli, came over last night and watched some with us . . . so glad we have Netflix!! Here are the movies we've been watching:
- Girl With the Dragon Tattoo
- The Girl Who Played With Fire
- Breaking Dawn
Tonight, we plan to watch: The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest . . .
Blessings to you this Sunday!! Remember, no binging ;-)
Saturday, March 3, 2012
Day 173: Tortoise & the Hare

Happy Saturday!! We survived another day of the C25K training . . . only one more week of week 2 then we advance to week 3!! So, as you can see in my photo above, Dad is leading the way . . . as always, the tortoise and the hare (remember who won the race) . . . ;-)
Dad's official nick name is Coach O'Hare . . .
We had a great time, and when we finished, we came in for cold raw oats with organic agave nectar, milled flax seed, soy milk, and peanut butter. . . .we drank fresh squeezed raw OJ and had some Gevalia coffee . . . the breakfast of champions ;-)
We are truly blessed! Love this time with my dad!
Lunch today will be a Lara Bar, then dinner is BBQ chicken and roasted veggies with my hubby and BFF, Kelli. After dinner it's movie time: The Girl with The Dragon Tattoo, The Girl Who Swallowed the Hornet's Nest, and The Girl Who Played with Fire. . . then Breaking Dawn . . . it will be an all nighter!!!
God Bless!!

Day 174

I believe it is so important what we put in our bodies!! Literally can heal or hurt our bodies. As you can see in my picture, I juiced again last night: a bunch of kale, 2 apples, 2 carrots, 4 stalks of celery, and lime juice . . . I drank it all (minus the cup I shared with dad). The taste is (awful) really growing on me . . .
Started out my day with a Lara bar (they are pretty good, but my favorite is cherry pie). Then went straight to Physical Therapy, while there, I busted some yoga moves, lifted some weights, did some cardio on the stationary bike and treadmill = 60 minute workout!
Followed that with a Muscle Milk = 230 calories of nastiness but I got 24 grams of protein. Blah!!!!!
Got to talk to my Auntie Dee on the phone today!! Love her bunches!! Made my day . . .
Had a raw orange for a snack, cold oats for lunch (my newest addiction), and planning homemade pizza bread for dinner . . .
Deaf Chat is tonight in Hurricane, so I plan to visit for about an hour . . . love to meet up with my Deafies!!!
I am in need of prayer as we transition my family member back home. This is a trying time!
God Bless!!

Today's menu :
B- cheerios, organic milk, raw banana
L-home made pizza bread on ww bun and raw orange
D-raw veggie / fruit juice from my juicer

Day 177: Day 1 - Week 2 - C25K = SUCCESS!!
I am pleased to announce that I survived day 1 of week 2 C25K = 90 sec run / 2 min walk for 20 minutes. Dad, aka: coach, was a huge help. I trailed behind him, but I didn't stop!!
Came in and used my juicer to make 8 oz of fresh organic apple juice and had the BEST breakfastever: cold oats. I will post the recipe below:
For cold oats, I combine in a bowl: 40 grams (about 1/2 cup) old-fashioned oats, 1/2 cup almond milk, 1 Tbsp. chia seeds, and a teaspoon of maple syrup. (If you are soaking the oats overnight, you can leave out the chia seeds). This recipe comes from Katie of Runs for Cookies.
Monday, February 27, 2012
Day 178: Juicy Story
I am not sure what is up with me, but the past three days, I have had hunger issues. I feel so hungry and can't seem to get satisfied, so I am over eating a bit. Yesterday I was over by 37 calories, today I am over by 25. . . I don't know what is up. I hope how soon this passes!
Today's menu:
B - raw peach and mango smoothie with organic coconut milk
L- lean cuisine and tangerines
S-popcorn and apple
D-ww bun w/ provolone, veggies, salmon
God Bless!!
Sunday, February 26, 2012
Day 179

I have 179 days to lose 31 more pounds by August 20th. I am starting to believe this is a possibility! As for being able to run a 5K . . . not so sure ;-) I CAN DO IT!!!! When my run/jog/walk is over, I do feel a thrill of doing what I NEVER thought I could do!!
Today is Sunday, and I am headed to the hospital to visit my family member, who was very angry with me yesterday for "putting her in here!" I understand this is normal, but it still hurts a bit and really makes me wanna grab a dozen Krispy Kreme donuts on the way home.
By the way, the hardest part of my new life is not eating a daily dozen (of donuts). My whole wheat toast with nutella is a good compromise . . .
I do allow myself one cheat day per week, usually on Saturday so if we decide to eat out, I have freedom. I will, one day, have a donut on my cheat day . . . I will blog all about it!
Yesterday was my cheat day, and I exceeded my calories by about 500 . . . we didn't eat out, but I made salmon cakes, sugar snap peas, and mashed potatoes and I had two plates rather than one. However, I believe that in order to keep your metabolism revved, your body needs a wave of calories once a week. So, I ate and enjoyed . . . but I also cleaned house for 2 hours afterwards which burned most of the excess calories . . . and when I weighed in this morning, my weight was still 211.6!!
Today's Menu:
B: Oatmeal with raw strawberries and banana
L: Left over salmon cakes with raw veggies
D: egg beaters and veggies with a raw mango
I will leave you guys with a funny quote I saw yesterday regarding raw diets:
"My idea of a raw diet is eating untoasted poptarts"!
God Bless!

Day 180 = down one more lb.
My new loves: My new Brooks running shoes & Dulche De Leche Cheerios.

Today ends my week 1 (that I squeezed into two weeks) of my C25K training. Tuesday, dad and I will start week 2 which is 90 seconds run 2 minutes walk. Wish me luck and PRAY!!!

I'm officially down another pound 211.6!!!!
I have officially become a coffee drinker as of this week: Gevalia Decaf with creamer.
Yesterday, I became a Melaleuca rep. I have used their (made in America/ organic / wellness) products for 3 - 4 years, and really like them. I will blog more about this tomorrow. In the mean time, visit our website at www.melaleuca.com
I got fitted for my new running shoes yesterday. I tried on several pairs, but the Brooks felt the best and they were on sale, so I got them. They felt to light and great on my feet this morning during my run!! You can see my shoes above (except mine are not purple, they are aqua). I highly recommend Robert's Running Store in Huntington. Great place!!
I have a new love: Dulche De Leche Cheerios = Heaven in a bowl (that was breakfast) with organic milk and a raw banana (and coffee).
Lunch = raw apple and peanut butter
Dinner = veggies and protein (probably chicken)
God Bless!!

This morning, I have two doctors appointments and will also get fitted with my running shoes. Yay!
I did my elliptical for 20 minutes and in out the door for 1 hour of physical therapy, hopefully some strength training there.
I'm having a raw banana and a granola bar for breakfast. Fruit for lunch and Spaghetti for dinner!

Day 182

Got my juicer!! 28.00 at Walmart!
Today was another difficult day . . . went this morning for a run with dad. This is day 5 of the C25K training, and it isn't getting any easier for me. . .
I wonder why I started running sometimes???
I ate healthy today. Had a subway sandwich for breakfast / lunch. In February, it's any sub for 5.00. I got the western egg white sub with raw veggies on honey oat bread.
I ate an apple for a snack and pinto beans for dinner.
I bought a juicer yesterday, so I will start juicing to supplement my diet (not been led to fast).
God Bless You!!

Day 184

Dad and I just got in from day 4 of our Couch to 5K training . . . boy, he really pushes me. I thought I'd surely die! This training is NOT easy for me, but it's worth it!!
I wanted to share with you from the Bible Study that I have been doing . . . last night, I read about the kindred spirit that Mary and Elisabeth shared. When the angel spoke to Mary, telling her that she was going to have baby Jesus, Mary went and told Elisabeth, who was elderly, yet 6 months pregnant with John, these two women shared such a bond. I will share the scriptures below:
Luke 1: 40 - 45
At that time Mary got ready and hurried to a town in the hill country of Judea,40 where she entered Zechariah’s home and greeted Elizabeth. 41 When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. 42 In a loud voice she exclaimed: “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the child you will bear! 43 But why am I so favored, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? 44 As soon as the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the baby in my womb leaped for joy. 45 Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill his promises to her!”
Those verses really touch my heart, especially when Elizabeth said, "why am I so favored, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?" Elizabeth was pregnant too, both women were expecting, but the difference was, Mary wasn't just caring a baby, she was carrying her Lord. Wow!
It brings me to think of some of the Godly women that have been placed in my life. I am so blessed to have that kindred spirit with these women.
I am getting ready to go to work. . . here's my menu for today:
B - cheerios, organic milk, raw banana
L - organic blue corn chips, raw salsa, raw avacado
S- egg beaters, lean ham, ww toast, and a raw mango
God Bless you all today!!
Monday, February 20, 2012
Day 185: Monday 1 more lb lost
Normally, I am not this excited about Mondays, but, today, I weighed in at 212.8. Another pound of fat gone from my body!!! Yay!!! Just 13 more pounds and I will be under 200!! Hallelujah chorus!!
Today, I have been making phone calls all morning, trying to find in-home care for my family member who is coming home in March!
Please pray for us on this . . .
I am getting ready to hit the elliptical, then I will eat my cheerios and raw banana for breakfast.
Lunch will be organic nachos with cheese and raw veggies.
Dinner will be yummy cheese sticks with turkey pepperoni and raw fruit . . . .I got this recipe from Pinterest and I have eaten them twice for dinner, this will be the third night and I LOVE them!
Ingredients:
12 Wonton or Egg-Roll Wraps, at room temperature
12 Light or Fat-free Mozzarella String Cheese
Marinara Sauce (Low-Sodium) for Dipping
Small bowl with water, optional
Baked Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
2. Take one of your room-temperature wraps (less likely to break and ooze cheese all over if room-temp and slightly wet) and lay on flat surface in front of you, like a diamond. Put cheese stick in middle, corner to corner (or slightly below).
3. Take the bottom corner and fold it up over the cheese stick and stick to other side of wrap tightly. You can add a few drops of the water here to make the wrap stick better.
4. Carefully (here is the part where the wrap can break), fold over the right and left corners of the wrap onto the cheese stick to completely cover the cheese.
5. Roll up the wrap.
6. Bake at 400 for 10-12 minutes, turning once, until golden brown.

Day 186: Sunday = 1 more pound lost

Today is Sunday and I am down one more pound. I am down to 213.8. . . snoopy dance!!
I watched a great documentary on Netflix last night: Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead. It speaks of the importance of raw food, and how healing it is to the body . . . especially when it is in juice form. I have noticed that as 51% of my diet is raw food, that it is difficult to eat THAT MUCH raw veggies / fruits. If you juice them, you are still getting the micro-nutrients from them, but not having to eat plates of veggies.
Thus, my mission to find a :

JUICER
If anyone knows of a good one at a lower cost, hook me up. I am thinking of checking out Elder Beerman. They usually have great sales.
The man who created this documentary is Joe Cross, and he is one of my health heros . . . he went on a 60 day juice fast to heal his body of a dreadful illness, and it was successful. He now helps individuals who want to fast or just simply reboot their bodies. I am planning a reboot in the near future and will pray about a fast. I only want to do a fast if the Lord directs me to do that for His purposes in my life. I am a new member to the reboot site and I am planning to begin my first reboot on March 18th, 2012! Who wants to join me??
To learn about rebooting visit: http://www.jointhereboot.com
I continue to add new challenges to myself . . .running a 5K (maybe by May), 51 % raw foods, buying Made in USA products, and now reboot with juicing and a possible juice fast.
I like a challenge!!
Some of the challenges that I set for myself in December 2011 that are currently being met are:
- I'm 54 days BINGE FREE!! Thank you, Jesus!!
- Lost have lost 17 lbs.
- I am exercising 6 days / week
Some of the challenges on my list, have gone unaccounted for, but I am setting up a plan to fix that:
- Pay off credit card debt - plan to use my income tax return $$$ to pay off my one credit card
- More time in God's Word - just got a new Bible Study and I am in day 2 and I enjoy it. It is about the life of Jesus: see the photo of my book at the top of the blog.
God's Blessings to you all today!!!!

Day 188: Down two more pounds!!
I am so happy to report that I am down 2 more pounds today. I am down to 214.8!!! I consider that 2 lbs ;-)
I went to the doctor this morning for acupuncture, then to the hospital to visit family there.
Had a homemade raw blueberry spinach smoothie for breakfast. (nasty)
Made low cal Fajitas for lunch with a raw banana and raw guacamole.
Toast and popcorn are planned for dinner - I need some carbs!!
Dad and I went for a walk, and I trained him today for day 1 of the C25K. He did very well.
We plan to do it again tomorrow too.
I heard a quote regarding food, I'd like to leave you with today:
"The longer the shelf life, the shorter your life"
Eat Raw and God bless!!
Thursday, February 16, 2012
Day 189: A Picture is Worth 1,000 words
Cheerios with a raw banana and organic skim milk for breakfast and roasted (not raw) brussell sprouts for lunch (along with some mushrooms which I didn't shoot).
This morning, I did my Jillian Michaels workout on the wii, and she busted my tail for 30 minutes. Today is a busy day, so I am off to it. God Bless!

Day 190

I finished my second day of my C25K training today. It seemed easier this time, or maybe I was just moving slower . . .I only have one day left of "week one", but I think I will allow "week one" to last several weeks if need be, I am in no hurry.
I have been sticking to my 51% raw foods, and my Lose It App that I use on my Iphone awarded me with the "Just Peachy" award last night for eatingso many fruits and veggies ;-)
Today has been a busy and hectic day for me . . . my menu is:
B: raw almonds and Naked Juice
L: Lean Cuisine, Raw Caluiflower and Guacamole, Raw Pineapple, and 1/3 of a chocolate bar
D: Raw Spinach Salad
I am planning to hit the gym on Friday and do my final C25K "run" of the week on Saturday with my dad.
God Bless you all!!

Day 191 = Happy Valentine's Day

Today, being Valentine's Day, my husband is making me his famous pancakes, but this time they are PINK . . . my very favorite color. I love them so much and would prefer them over a box of chocolates any day . . . They are full of calories, so I will really have to fill up on raw foods the rest of the day.Yesterday, was a success for me. I was able to reach two goals!
1. I ran my first day of the Couch to 5K training = 60 seconds run / 90 sec brisk walk for 20 minutes. It was very hard for me, but I endured and I will do it again tomorrow. You are to train three times a week for 2 months, then supposedly, you can run a 5K . . . we'll see!
2. Over 51% of what I ate yesterday was raw!!
Today's Menu:
1. Raw fruit and pancakes
2. Raw cauliflower
3. Chinese buffet
By the way, the Odwalla Super Foods drink that I posted yesterday is AWESOME!!!
Happy Valentine's Day!! Remember, God loves you!!!
